WPT Nonwovens is not only proud to be a US nonwoven textile manufacturer, and a trusted source for quality American-made nonwoven fabric, we are equally proud to be 3rd generation family-owned and an active supporter of veterans.
This year, WPT Nonwovens will be continuing our Veterans First Hiring Program. For this initiative, our team is working with the local chapters of the Veterans Administration, Disabled Veterans Association, AMVETS and VFW to recruit former military service members to join our workforce.
As an Army veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, WPT Nonwovens President, Travis Robbins sees the value of military service experience as it applies to business. Following his service and return from deployment, Travis earned a business degree using benefits he earned through the GI Bill. While working on his degree, he also worked on the floor at WPT Nonwovens, familiarizing himself with all aspects of nonwovens manufacturing.
When speaking of the strength in building a team that includes veterans, Travis mentions four specific attributes that veterans bring to the table – Veterans understand teamwork, leadership, discipline and exhibit that ‘can-do’ attitude.
According to Travis, “those are skills that are just so valuable. You can work with almost anything and do almost anything with those attributes.”
At the start of the Veterans First Hiring Program, 10% of WPT Nonwovens’ workforce was veterans. Moving forward, our plan is that one in five of our new hires will be a military veteran.
WPT is a 3rd generation family-owned and operated company that is 100% American-owned, FDA-registered, and a Small Business for federal contracting purposes.
