As recently reported by Nonwovens Industry, the need for medical grade masks will not be ending anytime soon,
“As the world enters into the third year of the coronavirus pandemic, face masks and respirators continue to be pervasive, especially as new variants, like the contagious Omicron, continue to emerge.”
Something that has changed since the onset of the pandemic is that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) proclaimed in mid-January that cloth masks are not as effective in providing protection against COVID as surgical masks and respirators.
Before the pandemic, that is prior to 2020 and 2021, surgical masks and respirator masks had been mostly made in Asia. The COVID 19 crisis led nonwoven industry manufacturers to make an unprecedented level of investment in mask production raw materials and equipment. WPT Nonwovens is proud to have taken early action in responding to the need for critical PPE masks.
WPT Nonwovens responded to national PPE needs with the high volume production of ASTM F2100-19 Level 3 Earloop Surgical Face Masks (commonly referred to as surgical masks or procedure masks). We made a significant investment in equipment and materials so that we could become a dependable U.S. source for much needed masks, here in Beaver Dam, Kentucky.
We’ve been working with hospitals and other facilities to fill the need for masks, so that they do not have to be vulnerable to overseas suppliers who are unreliable and often produce an inferior product. Not only are our masks available in stock and ready for shipment, test results have shown our masks to be of the highest quality in circulation. Customers have reported that they prefer the feel and quality of WPT medical masks over Chinese-sourced masks.
